It would be a lie for me to tell you that I can sum up everything I gained from my Spring Break trip to New Orleans.  My best offer is a summary.

We spent the week working on Miss Cammie Carroll's two story house.  Miss Cammie is the sweetest 75 year old lady, and she's been living with her daughter since Hurricane Katrina. We got to hear her stories, amongst other stories of people we met while we were down there.  We were able to spend a night at a block party running around with the neighborhood kids, and we were able to see much of a culture that we don't normally get to be around.  We also got to see both the French Quarter and the Lower Ninth Ward, which are two completely different perspectives of life in a crazy close distance from one another.
I learned a lesson in being Christ to people, whether you think you can make that difference or not.  I learned a bit about patience, and a bit about loving people.  I learned about God's power in more ways than one, and I learned about the help we still need to give people who we may not even see are struggling.
I am so thankful for this experience and the people I got to share it with.

Party like it's a St. Patty's Day Parade!

Miss Patsy told us about her daughter.  A notorious Furby murderer.  Wanted in two counties and three parishes.

  1. sounds like you had a great time! I am soo glad. It is experiences like these that make us better people, more Christ like. This makes me miss my group and time down there. BUT I have to remember that its not just something that happened at one time, but something thats still happening now.
I hope and pray that this will stick with you and won't become something "that once happened".
    btwubu.
